About Emma Collings

Emma Collings is a Victoria Stilwell Positively Dog Trainer, an Associate Member of the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers and a Full Member of The Guild Of Dog Trainers.  Emma set up her own training school, School For Paws, to help teach people responsible dog ownership and improve the relationship between dog and owner.  Emma's career began at the RSPCA and she continued from there working and volunteering at shelters and dog clubs. She was keen to take her career to another level and increase her professional knowledge and decided to study dog psychology and behaviour in addition to acquiring qualifications to become an instructor.

School For Paws was born and Emma started by running puppy and adult dog training classes.  At the same time she worked part time for Roger Mugford's animal behavioural centre and soon progressed to offering 1-2-1 training and behaviour within the client's home. 

Now specialising in behaviour, Emma has become a TLC Trainer (Thinking Like Canines).  This is a new concept of training that helps people understand their dog's mind, and to start communicating effectively with their canine companions by use of body language and simple training techniques. 

Emma trains using only positive reinforcement and does not advocate harsh or punitive methods of training and believes they are counterproductive.  Therefore, she is keen to educate people and other trainers to move forward with their techniques by leaving behind 'old fashioned' traditional methods and replacing them with positive training.

Emma is also an Agility Club Qualified Instructor.  She enjoys teaching and competing in the sport with her three Border Collies. Through Emma's passion and understanding of this intelligent and active breed, she has been able to help with behavioural problems that many inexperienced owners of Collies have encountered and has had clients traveling long distances to see Emma especially.
